Since First United Bank opened in 1972, we have been considered a first class community bank. In the beginning, our founder, Fey Orr, saw the need for a community bank in Crete because the town did not have a bank at that time. Mr. Orr felt that the community needed a strong bank with a strong citizen behind it. From his vision, Orr formed First United Bank, and throughout our history we have made good citizenship a priority.
The same ideal was at work when the Steger Banking Center was opened in 1982. Once again, we provided a service by opening a community bank in a town that had none. In 1990 First United Bank opened a third Banking Center in a temporary facility in Frankfort, Illinois. The completion of the permanent facility in Frankfort in December 1993 further marked our commitment to the community. First United Bank did not stop there. We continued to expand our branch network with the opening of our Naperville Banking Center in May 2003 and our Wolf & Laraway Banking Center in Frankfort in March 2005.
In each case, First United Bank has provided a community bank that is committed to the towns and villages we serve. That commitment, along with our many fine products and services, marks First United Bank as a first class community bank.
